Driven Partridge & Pheasant shooting Wales - United Kingdom

Welcome to the Birds heaven of Wales and the West Country and the most luxury and best Partridge & Pheasant shooting in the UK.

The Hunting Estates

The UK is the spiritual home of driven bird shooting. Nowhere else in the world is there to be found the combination of superb birds and tradition that elevates a sporting experience into a unique social occasion. High curling driven pheasants rocketing downwind over deep wooded valleys, driven partridges flaring over high hedges or driven grouse contouring over heathery slopes are the stuff of shooting dreams. In Wales we offer a collection of some of the best Shooting Estates you can find in the UK. The exclusive Pheasant and Partridge shooting estates are primarily focused on Mid Wales and the West Country.

The Brigands has a well-earned reputation as one of the highest pheasant shoots in the UK, and for good reason! Once you have re-captured your breath after taking in the sheer scale of the topography, you will be treated to what can only be described as stratospheric driven pheasant shooting. The Brigands lies in the valleys of Cambrian Mountains and at the foot of Snowdonia national park. This 12,000 acre estate provides endless drives to appeal to all manner of Guns and ability.

You could be forgiven for imagining yourself sipping first growth claret at a Chateaux in Bordeaux, were it not for the deceptively high pheasants exploding from the ancient oak woodland! Maesmawr Hall is situated in a beautiful location with a splendid backdrop to a classic shoot steeped in history. Formerly laid out as 19th century hunting estate – this shoot has gradually evolved into a wonderful pheasant shoot.

Kempton lies just inside the English border and is synonymous with traditional Shropshire pheasants and hospitality to match. The shoot lodge sits on the pinnacle of the estate and is approached by a meandering driveway which elevates to over 1000ft and offers a panoramic view of both the Welsh and English countryside. The layout of the drives and the undulating valleys allows the guns to see the shoot in its entirety from a number of vantage points meaning that it is possible to get a level view of just how high the pheasants and partridge were when looking from one hill down in to the previous valley.

Molland is located on the edges of the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Whilst waiting for the astonishing pheasant and partridge to take to the air it is not uncommon to see red deer breaking cover. Whilst navigating the narrow lanes and high sided ditches, each corner reveals another valley boasting the high pheasant shooting of which every sporting man dreams. The natural topography of mature woodland sitting atop steep sided valleys lends itself to showing gloriously tall pheasants interspersed with huge coveys of partridge to test the Guns in the same way as drives such as Dipper and Trevors have done for centuries.

West Molland

West Molland is what we like to address as “Devon Heaven”. Pheasants are flushed from distant cover crops where they meet mature woodland, in order to gain both speed and altitude. This combination provides epic pheasant shoots in some of the most beautiful countryside the UK has to offer. West Molland forms part of the Molland estate and shares many of the same characteristics – wonderful hospitality, extreme pheasants and glorious scenery. Molland Wood is one of the most written about drives in the UK shooting press. The tall, thick coniferous wood hides the gliding pheasants from view of the guns until the very last minute when they explode over the line in an adrenalin filled scramble to load more quickly!

Gregynog Hall is famed for challenging driven pheasant shooting set in beautiful rolling valleys. The shoot itself is just a stone’s throw from our sporting lodges which allows for a leisurely breakfast before approaching this enchanting estate. Drives such as the Middle have a loyal following of Guns from both the UK and overseas and it is little wonder that the limited shoot days offered on this estate are highly sought after.

Vaynor Park

Vaynor Park is the quintessential Welsh Estate and family home to the Corbett Winders. William can frequently be found roaming his estate and hosting pheasant shooting days with superb presence. The estate provides spectacular pheasant and partridge driven across open parkland from ancient woodlands. Vaynor is looked upon by the impressive stately home set deep amongst the Oak woods. It is here that the guns meet and draw pegs before heading off to shoot such iconic drives as hanging wood and middle house and possibly even the newly created Cataphel which is already forging itself a reputation for towering pheasants and explosive partridges driven over a deep, wide valley.

Chargot has forged a position as one of the UK’s most renowned and iconic shooting estates, for traditional pheasant and partridge shooting in a wonderful landscape. Steep valleys at the foot of the Exmoor moorland provide the inspiration for shooting true to West Country reputation, tall and fast! It isn’t just the birds that live up to the expectations, they are matched only by the superb hospitality on offer.

What our guests say

"Fantastic personal service from start to finish, tailored everything to my requests. The best days shooting I've ever had so far (there have been many!) at both Chargot and Gregynog. Will be going back to both and trying some new estates this season."
